Hollywood star feared Selena Gomez would be a 'nightmare' but was proved wrong within seconds

Selena Gomez took over the music scenes and our TV screens, most recently, bagging a role in the hit show, Only Murders In The Building. However, co-star Martin Short feared her music success would cause her to be a ‘nightmare’ to work with.

The music star made her TV debut in 2007 when she appeared as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel show, Wizards of Waverley Place. Since then, her career has gone from strength to strength, however, she’s proved that she’s no “pop princess nightmare.”

Martin Short feared Selena Gomez would be a ‘nightmare’

Due to the time the show was filmed, the cast hadn’t actually met each other before the first day. Speaking to PEOPLE at Selena Gomez‘s Rare Impact Fund Benefit, co-star Martin Short said:

“The first day we shot, I had never met Selena. Because of COVID, we’d only Zoomed,” Short recalled. “And I was driving to work and I thought, ‘I wonder what Selena’s could be like?’ I mean, she could be a nightmare. She could be a pop princess nightmare.”

However, the Hollywood star was proved wrong within the first second, as he told the publication: “Right away — from the first second we started to the makeup room — it was, like, fabulous.”

The 73-year-old couldn’t be more complimentary of the Single Soon singer, as he said she “always knows her lines” and is “so talented.”

Martin wasn’t the only friend there to support the actress at her fundraising event. Francia Raisa, who donated her kidney to Gomez also made an appearance to support her friend.

Although their relationship has been through ups and downs, it seems like the two are now on a great page. They even happened to match outfits, (accidentally).

The star says her ‘heart is full’

After the highly successful fundraiser, Gomez took to her Instagram to express how her “heart is full.”

In the caption, she wrote about how it had always been a ‘dream of hers’ and that she was “forever grateful to everyone who has joined us on this mission to expand mental health services and education for young people around the world.”

As per their website: ” The Rare Impact Fund is raising $100 million over the next ten years to expand access to mental health services and education for young people around the world.”

Gomez herself has struggled with mental health, and in 2020, announced she was dealing with bipolar during a live stream with Miley Cyrus. She revealed how she went a long time without the support she needed because she “didn’t understand what she was feeling” which is why she set up the fund.

It looks like the night has the fund edging all that bit closer to the target, raising thousands. Selena’s bestie Taylor Swift, donated VIP tickets to her Eras Tour concert and were listed on the Rare Impact Fund Benefit’s site for the starting price of $5,000.
