Janis gets to tell her story and to name her perfect man

Former Cable TV entertainment presenter Janis Chan has moved up the corporate ladder. She has just been appointed the vice-president of sports and entertainment group BMA Marketing & Advertising. Owned by Steven Lo Kit-sing, its umbrella includes the South China soccer team, local authors and such pop artists as Soler, Ekin Cheng and Niki Chow Lai-ki.

The official announcement was made at a lunch on Friday at The Peninsula, with the former TV host doing the hosting duties herself.

'Before joining BMA, I also had doubts about making this move,' Chan said. 'Over the last six years at Cable Entertainment News, I had the opportunity to interview many famous stars. I was always listening to or reporting on other people's stories. I think it is now time for me to tell people who Janis Chan is.' What she is now is another executive with prime-time ambitions. Chan won't be stepping away from the camera. In fact, she'll be going to former rival TVB to host the coming Mister Hong Kong contest. No wonder Cable TV didn't send any reporters to the event. When the floor was opened for questions, adidas regional boss Colin Currie asked Chan who her favourite male interviewee was. Chan replied: George Clooney. 'He has all three Ss of a perfect man - smart, successful and, most important, he is still single.'
